Vinyl Signs for your Storefront

When you’re a business owner, one of the most important aspects of your job is ensuring that people know you exist. Amid the complex ways people trumpet the existence of their operation these days (Twitter, Facebook, Web sites, search engine optimization, etc.), there is an old fashioned method of advertising that may not get enough credit lately.

Signs.

No, not smoke signals or Morse code. We mean things you hang on your storefront that say your business’ name and let people know to come in. This stuff is important!

Among the most practical, affordable, and useful types of sign is the vinyl sign. Here’s a little bit more about vinyl signs – the material they’re made from, their environmental impact, their durability, portability, and visual appeal.

What is Vinyl?

Vinyl banners, vinyls signs, and moreThough people know vinyl from the days of “record albums,” the siding that’s applied to suburban homes, flooring, and more, few actually know what this substance is or where it comes from.

Vinyl is a synthetic material. It is a man-made plastic that is made from crude oil-derived ethylene and chlorine. Both substances are combined to create polyvinyl chloride, known as PVC resin, which is another term for vinyl.

Vinyl production dates back to 1920. It was produced by scientists who wanted to find a universally useful, cheap, and durable material than what was in existence at the time. They achieved it, and now vinyl is the second most commonly manufactured plastic resin on earth.

Why Vinyl Signs?

There are lots of types of signs out there. Aluminum, wood, neon, three-dimensional plastic. The type that’s right for your business could depend on a number of factors. But as you make your decision, you may want to consider some of the excellent properties vinyl possesses.

Vinyl:

-Resists moisture and withstands humidity.

-Has a high tensile strength; is not easily broken.

-Can be produced in an array of custom colors.

-Is an affordable material to produce/buy. (See our pricing for vinyl signs here)

Vinyl also possesses earth-friendly properties:

-It can easily be recycled.

-Vinyl signs have a long life span, reducing the need to purchase/dispose of additional signs.

Vinyl Signs are Lightweight

As an additional asset, vinyl signs are printed on a lightweight, fabric-like material. This lends them the added benefit of easy transport and easy repositioning.

There are two outstanding options that businesses “on the move” may want to consider when mapping out their arsenal of signage.

Vinyl banners with retractable banner stands make a very versatile asset for any business. This product folds up into a portable tube, making it a no-brainer for businesses who frequent trade shows, conventions, or who take their business out on the street (restaurants who also have food trucks, for example). The full size of these banners is a huge, unmissable 33”x80”, which again folds up to nearly nothing at all.

One other excellent vinyl sign product is the vinyl banner. In sizes from 2’x6’ to a whopping 8’x10’, this product comes in full color and is fully customizable. For ease of use, it comes pre-punched with metal-ringed hanging holes, so all you need to put it up is a piece of string, rope, or even a couple of nails. Again, its light weight and its ability to fold in on itself make it an excellent sign to take on the go, or to hang on your storefront for the life of your business. Again, because vinyl is such a durable product, you can be sure you won’t need to reinvest in another sign for a long while.

So there you have it, the low-down on vinyl – a space-age, near-perfect plastic we can rely on to carry our business’ message well into the 21st century and beyond!
